Yes, time and again, they've shown us that there is literally no bottom. They seem incapable of seeing their own guilt, and to the contrary, they take a self-righteous stance and assume they have something to teach others.
Bet they double-down on teaching Purity culture. I’m always -but def shouldn’t be- amazed at the hypocrisy & how ignorant they think people are. It’s as if they don’t even believe their own biblical teachings on sin. But they have the same problem as the forever old incest & CSA within the conservative Mennonites. Until they switch their mindsets from it being a sin to a crime, it will continue. But that would mean taking accountability. 🙄
I’m so sorry. This specific deflection is made even worse by their audacity to state something so ignorant. We breathe & keep marching. 😮💨💪💛
Yes. It sorta seems like a precursor to a double-down on Purity teachings. It's just insulting - I agree - that they seem to think we're all so ignorant. And yet... in their tribe, I'd bet that people are gonna buy up those tickets to hear him talk.
And feel very self-satisfied in their righteousness of actively doing something to bring about supposed change. There is none so blind as he who will not see…
Thank you for this very informative update. I ordered your book last week and am reading it. We live in Texas, too, and know the church all too well. Due to various traumas, we are no longer in religion. Your words comfort us and show us that we are not alone.
Ironically I read the Dallas Morning News first this morning and yes there is power and money in the SBC patriarchy. “The demand letter said Morris was “forced out” of Gateway in June. It categorized his departure as involuntary termination and said Morris was therefore owed $1,083,574… Morris’ letter said the former pastor was also owed additional retirement benefits of $800,000 a year until he turned 70, then $600,000 a year until he died. It said the benefits would continue to be paid to his wife, Debbie, after his death.”
There seems to be no limit to what they will do or who or what they will blame to avoid seeing and admitting their own guilt and shame.

Yes! It's supremely offensive, in addition to the reprehensible harm they've done and continue to do. You rightly call that out.

Keep screaming Christa! They have never had any moral authority on anything.
What a Disgusting DAEVO ploy. It also implies feminist movement, of course anti-woman.
Thank you Christa.

Thank you for your kind words... and thanks for reading Baptistland!
Why I will never ever belong to a cult.
